Vanlife in Lofoten

Are you ready to experience Lofoten in the most magical way? This summer, Kajsa Sande and North Away invite you on the ultimate road trip through the world’s most beautiful archipelago – in the coolest vintage retro vans. Get ready for 6 days filled with vanlife, connections and unforgettable moments.

We’ll journey together in a van caravan through Lofoten’s dramatic landscapes. Winding roads, towering mountains and untouched coastlines. Along the way, we’ll stop at hidden gems, hike to majestic viewpoints, swim in the ocean, outdoor cooking and soak in the golden light of late summer.

Each night, we’ll settle in at beautiful campsites surrounded by nature, with access to toilets and showers on most days. The adventure begins in Svolvær at 3 PM on June 14, where we meet at Lofoten Vanlife, pick up our retro vans and hit the road. That evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner under the open sky, the perfect start to the journey ahead. Each van accommodates two people, and every van is equipped with a comfortable queen-size bed and a small kitchen. If you are traveling alone, we will ensure you are matched with one of the other travelers. 

The total cost of this trip is 22.750 NOK (1.929 EUR). Payment will be invoiced in NOK. Deposit: 8.500 NOK (720 EUR), payable upon registration to secure your spot. The registration deadline is April 1 and Final Payment Deadline is Maj 1 2026. Please note: The trip requires a minimum of 10 participants to proceed. We recommend waiting for confirmation of this before booking flights.

Type af rejse

We will drive through Lofoten in beautifully renovated Volkswagen T3 vans, built between 1982 and 1989, and now restored here in Lofoten to a lovely pastel look. The vans are fully equipped with everything you need for the trip – you just need to bring your own clothes. Please note that these are vintage vehicles, so each van has its own personality.

Fysisk form

On this trip, we’ll do three hikes (each around 3–4 hours). They’re not long, but they are demanding. We’ll move at a steady pace that works for everyone, but you should be comfortable getting your heart rate up and breaking a sweat.

You’ll need to bring a daypack with water, snacks, and extra layers (including rain gear) – and a sense of adventure, of course.

Transport til lofoten

We start and end the trip in Svolvær, so we recommend flying round-trip to Svolvær Airport.

Ankomst & Afgang

We will start the journey in Svolvær at Lofoten Vanlife, where we will pick up the vans together at 3 PM on June 14. The location is only 5 km from Svolvær Airport. After that, we will drive together to our first accommodation. The trip will end at Lofoten Vanlife in Svolvær at 10:00 AM on June 19.

Dag 1: Day 1: Welcome to Lofoten
Our adventure begins in Svolvær, where we’ll pick up our vans and get introduced to the colorful vehicles that will carry us through this journey. We’ll meet at Lofoten Vanlife at 3 PM, and from there, drive together to our first accommodation. The day ends with a welcome dinner under the open sky – the perfect start to the days ahead.
Dag 2: Day 2: The start of an adventurous road trip
After a magical night under the midnight sun, we’ll drive towards Offersøykammen for a scenic hike with breathtaking views over mountains and sea. After the hike, you’ll have some well-deserved free time. On the way to our campsite for the night, we recommend a stop in Nusfjord – one of Lofoten’s oldest and most charming fishing villages.
Dag 3: Day 3: A Lofoten classic
The day begins with a challenging hike up Reinebringen, where the panoramic view from the top will take your breath away. After conquering the peak, we’ll explore the charming town of Reine and enjoy a local culinary experience at Anitas Sjømat – a family-run restaurant spanning five generations (meal at your own expense). Later, you’ll have some free time. We highly recommend renting kayaks and joining a guided tour through the stunning Reinefjorden – a magical way to experience Lofoten from the water.
Dag 4: Day 4: Fresh sea air and magnificent nature
We’ll drive from our accommodation to Haukland Beach, which has been voted Norway’s most beautiful beach several times and even recognized by Lonely Planet as one of Europe’s finest. After a scenic hike in the area, we’ll have a coffee and a swim at the beautiful beach and after there will be free time. We highly recommend continue to Unstad to treat yourselves to what might just be the world’s best cinnamon rolls at Unstad Arctic Surf.
Dag 5: Day 5: Idyll, authenticity and relaxation
Our final full day takes us to the charming town of Henningsvær, where you’ll have time to explore cozy local shops and cafés. We’ll end the day with a relaxing Arctic sauna and spa experience to a beautiful sunset.
Dag 6: Day 6: Farewell
It's time to say goodbye to the vans and Lofoten. We will return to Svolvær and hand over our vehicles at 10 AM.

Familie eventyr på Lofoten
Tusinde tak for et fantastisk rejseprogram. Som småbørnsforældre var det guld værd, at kunne læne sig tilbage og vide der var 100% styr på rejseplanen når vi ankom til Lofoten. Tak for at finde de unikke små steder med en lille legeplads til vores piger og et hike til os - Det gjorde vores rejse perfekt. Tak for hurtigt, at svare når et spørgsmål dukkede op.

What you see, is what you get
Efter mange selvarrangerede rejser, valgte vi i år at benytte os af lidt bekvemmelig lokalkendskab. North Away sendte os en glimrende rejseplan, der ramte vores behov fortræffeligt, og som fremfor alt viste sig at være retvisende og let at forholde sig til. Anbefalingen om at sejle fra Bodø og flyve retur fra Leknes til Bodø fungerede fint, og de valgte rorbuer var autentiske og lige det vi havde drømt om. De varmeste anbefalinger herfra til Fie og Bjørns North Away.

Uforglemmelig oplevelse
Fie og Bjørn, som er indehavere af North Away, formåede at skabe en utrolig fed oplevelse på en uges gruppetur. De delte ud af deres bedste tips, egne oplevelser og var enormt hjælpsomme både før og under vores rejse. Har man brug for bare at læne sig tilbage og lade andre planlægge rejsen, vil jeg trygt lade North Away stå for det!

Køb din næste rejse til Lofoten hos North Away - du vil ikke fortryde det! Fie og Bjørn som driver biksen, har så meget viden og erfaring med Lofoten, at du med sikkerhed vil opleve afkroge, som du ellers ikke ville. Turen de havde arrangeret for os, var magisk og overgik alt hvad vi havde af tanker, inden vi landede i Lofoten. Eventyrlig Lofoten oplevelse!
Jeg og mine to voksne drenge var med North Away til Lofoten. Fie og Bjørn, som ejer North Away, havde arrangeret en helt igennem perfekt Van gruppetur, hvor de selv deltog hele vejen.

Jeg kan på det varmeste anbefale North Away.

Norsk natur på fineste vis✨
Vi havde en helt fantastisk tur med North away til Lofoten! Alt var gennemtænkt og planlagt, så vi bare kunne nyde oplevelsen. Kombinationen af smuk natur, sauna ved vandet, udfordrende og sjove hikes samt træning i de mest idylliske omgivelser gjorde rejsen helt unik.

Stemningen på turen var afslappet, men samtidig fyldt med energi og gode vibes. Vejlederne var både professionelle og nærværende – man følte sig tryg og i gode hænder hele vejen.

Kan kun give mine varmeste anbefalinger til North away, hvis man vil have en aktiv ferie, hvor natur, fællesskab og oplevelser går op i en højere enhed. Vi kommer helt sikkert igen!
